Lots of activities after breakfast

15th June 2008

After the delicious breakfast, daddy and mummy brought us to the nearby Hua Ho department store (about 6 minutes by car) to survey some ovens for the new house. Then, we enjoyed some sweet treats at DQ restaurant. Daddy bought for Safiya and I an upside down Oreo Blizzard ice-cream and two slices of pizza: Tuna and Honey-Garlic Chicken. We also bought a 100% frozen ice-cream cake from DQ for celebrating Father's Day and the birthday of my uncle who turns 32 tomorrow.

Upside down Oreo Blizzard. It's called as such because the ice cream does not fall off when the cup is turned upside down. Yummy!

Safiya and I enjoying the pizza slices. Safiya looks a little bit drowsy in this picture since she just woke up from a nap. Hehehe...

On our way back home, we stopped by nini green's house to help out packaging 'gifts' for guests attending my aunt's wedding early next month. This is a custom in Brunei to show appreciation for the guests who attend the ceremonies, and the gifts can actually be almost anything that you can think of: dinnerware, small ornaments, or food items.

In our case, nini green decides to give away packed juices, individually put in bags written on it "Terima Kasih" or "Thank You" in English. It depends on how many guests we're expecting, but in Brunei usually there will be around 500 to 1000 guests, and the number may be more with big families and large groups of friends. Mummy says that the custom is the same in Malaysia, but usually the present is fragrant soaps or hard-boiled eggs, presented in beautiful wrappings.

Mummy's big family. Brother and sisters, in-laws and children lending a hand.

We also took the opportunity to play with our cousins Bazilah and Azim in the living room while mummy and daddy finishes off the packaging works. Hehehe...
