West End Saturday Market in Brisbane

11 October 2008

After months living in Brisbane, we have only discovered about the Saturday markets which are held every week in West End. Today, with the help of of our great friends; auntie Lina and uncle Sufri, we ventured for the new experience. Opppsss... don't get us wrong, they are not a couple.. Hehehe... just want to make sure auntie Lina's fiance doesn't get wrong ideas... ;)

At first, we board a CityCat ferry from Guyatt Park (about 15 minutes slow-walk from home), cross the river, and then take a bus (191 or 199) to Davies Park. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by the sight of vast numbers of tents, selling almost all kinds of things from seafood, fruits and vegetables, clothings and so on.

We bought quite a lot (hehehe... auntie Lina smiled at our full trolley), and everyone was happy with the really affordable price. For Bruneians, perhaps you can imagine our Tamu Kianggeh but with a more modern atmosphere. We were also happy to find our "long-lost" favourites; sayur kangkung and petola.

For all this, a big thanks goes to auntie Lina and uncle Sufri. Next time again, okay? Hehehe...
