Safiya's advanced birthday party

Last night, we hosted an advanced birthday celebration for Safiya. She will turn two this coming 15th, but since daddy is leaving for Brunei tomorrow, we decided to have the party early so that daddy can join in the once a year celebration. After all, this might be the only time we celebrate Safiya's birthday in Australia!

We invited our new Bruneian and Malaysian friends, and had an 'ambuyat' feast. Some of our guests have been craving for this Brunei traditional dish and we were lucky to have it at home, thanks to daddy. Nini bini was in the limelight for a few moments when she started to prepare the dish and everyone took her picture. Together with it, we also prepared other delicious cookings (all by nini bini of course); beef curry, soy-sauce mutton, ayam masak merah, stir-fried vegetables, mango sambal, and sambal belacan (shrimp paste sambal). We also had satay on the menu. Yummmmmyyyyyy!!! Heheh... I'm sure after reading this, those who couldn't come last night regret missing the opportunity... sorry guys!

The birthday cake...? We had auntie Widya prepare her delicious strawberry cheesecake for Safiya, and the decorations on the cake was really beautiful! Safiya especially liked the two butterflies on her cake; she likes them so much that she wouldn't dare eat them... hehehe...
