Halal food options while having fun

5 December 2008 (Part I)

Before anything, a big shout out to bungsu Hazim for his 15th birthday today. Happy Birthday Bungsu! May you have a great future and best of luck in everything you do.

Since we had lots of fun during our trip to Gold Coast recently, we would like to now share some information regarding halal or Muslim dining options available. In Australia, getting halal food is not difficult, and almost every shopping centre or area provides this option, but the menu is usually confined to kebabs, Indian food and Nando's. Thankfully though, these options are tasty and delicious to eat!

Amazingly, both Sea World and Movie World have restaurants which are halal certified. The menu ranges from fast food (imagine eating a halal chicken burger in Australia) to a la carte dining. Both the theme parks offers international menu including Asian selections. Really good news for Muslim Asians like us!

Now, don't you think there's another good reason to come to Gold Coast and have a blast, without worrying about what to eat? Hehehe... For more information, visit the [Movie World] and [Sea World] websites.

Now, another information to share... family-friendly accommodation is available. We stayed at the [Gold Coast International Hotel], and mummy was able to get a family room with ocean view for approximately AU$175 per night (please note though that rate may change). One advise, plan your trip way in-advance so that more hotel options are available. Mummy did find another hotel with similar room option on a promotional rate, but were fully booked due to the holidays. Nevertheless, our stay at GCI was not regretted at all because the service was good and quick too! We were all impressed that our luggage was already in the room while we were still checking-in at the reception, which was a fast process too!
