Sad news from Brunei... The Brunei history remembers Brunei's first mufti, the late Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Awang Haji Ismail bin Omar Abdul Aziz who was transferred from Johore, Malaysia and served in Brunei since April 1st, 1962 until he passed away on March 8th, 1993.
Yesterday, his widow, Ustazah Datin Hajjah Kamaliah, passed away peacefully. She was buried beside the tomb of her late husband. Mummy was very lucky to be able to acquaint the late Datin, when mummy was studying in Secondary 2 at the SUAMPRIPAD Arabic School in 1994.
