Laughter is the best medicine

30th April 2009
Mummy received this funny story in her email. Just thought of sharing it with you...

"The 'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher"
I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back. When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame.
Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.
Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater. She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday'
'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.' She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.
'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.) 'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man.
They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.) 'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!)
'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe. They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, (placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there.'
Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, jus t in case another 'Middle Wife' comes along.
So.... did you laugh? What a bright kid! Hehe..

Family look-alikes

Last weekend, we went for a visit to Wawa's house, and found some old pictures of daddy and his siblings when they were young. What really grabbed our attention is a baby picture of Ngangah which really resembles her daughter, Nazrah. Look below, identical right?

And the fun doesn't end there! Our new cousin, baby Syahmi who is now nearly 3 months old resembles myself when I was a baby. Hehehe... At least I know that baby Syahmi will grow up to be a handsome boy like me! Hahaha...

ABOVE & BELOW: Syahmi (left) and myself (right)

And that's what we call a family... :D

DinoDance by DinoTrek 2

29th April 2009
Daddy recently received pictures via email of us "dancing" with dinosaurs during our recent visit to DinoTrek 2 in KLCC, Malaysia. We were really having fun!

Silly pictures! Hehehe...

Bye-bye

27th April 2009 (Part II)

Farewell to auntie Kani who went back to London today after about one month stay in Brunei. We are looking forward to meet her (and of course her hubby too, our favourite uncle!) soon when they return home for good in September. If luck is on our side, we might have the chance to meet them sooner... hmmm...
To uncle & auntie, have a great time in London!

A short trip to Kuala Lumpur

27th April 2009 (Part I)

Heehee... if you were wondering why we were 'silent' this past week, it's because we have just arrived back in Brunei after a 6-days trip to Kuala Lumpur. It was a last minute planning, since it was only Saturday when mummy received confirmation that she and two of her colleagues were to be sent on a course there.

The initial plan was for mummy to go alone, but poor Safiya is very close to mummy and didn't want to be left behind. Fortunately, we were able to get air tickets for the Sunday flight, and ended up having a great trip! Hehehe... and of course, I skipped school for that week!

Anyway, we took lots of pictures (although mummy is not inside most of them since she was attending her course)... enjoy!

Whilst waiting for boarding time... Relaxing at the RBA Sky Lounge

We stayed at one of the hotels in Bukit Bintang

Believe it or not, we visited KLCC twice because Safiya and I love visiting the Dino-Trek as well as the Petrosains Gallery (more pics below)!

Two of my favourite dinosaurs; the T-Rex (tyrannosaurus) and the Spinosaurus Egypticus. Seriously, I memorise these names very well... :D

A close-up version during the ball-shooting... I was in charge of aiming at the dinosaur's mouth while Safiya shoots (more like "tried to"). Look at Safiya's facial expression! Hehehe...

On Thursday, daddy brought us on an adventure.. boarding a bus from KL to Seremban to visit our great grandmother and other family members. They were surprised to see us but were definitely happy. Our last visit was in 2004 when I was only a few months old. Now you know that we actually have Chinese descent!

Safiya dozing off on board the bus

Myself with "Kao Kong" (my grandma's brother)

A precious family picture

Hehehe... receiving 'ang pow' from Ah Tai

Playing with a baby cousin

Apart from KLCC and Seremban, we also visited some other interesting places...

The extraordinarily large Pavilion shopping mall

Masjid India

Berjaya Times Square.. with the indoor roller coaster ride behind me

And of course, what is KL without its delicious (and mostly spicy) cuisine!

Our visit to KL will not be enough without a meal at daddy's favourite Chicken Rice shop in Bukit Bintang. The price has gone up a bit but it was satisfying, just as how daddy remembers it.

Fried Kuey Teow (flat noodles) with clams

Kuey Teow Ladna.. Similar to Chinese style wet noodles

Ohhh... this one is a must-try! 'Daging Bakar & Air Asam'... or grilled tenderloins with spicy tamarind sauce

And my favourite memory of all... New additions to my transformer robots collection! Thank you daddy!

Please take your rubbish home

15th March 2009
Here is an excerpt of today's paper... It's actually a letter from my class at school giving our opinion about all the litter that taint the beauty of our beaches. The trip was one of the activities organised by Jerudong International School.

Ngangah in the local newspaper

15th April 2009

Yesterday, Ngangah makes a debut in our local Malay newspaper, the [Media Permata]. Ngangah (front row, right corner) is currently attending a two-weeks course with the Prisons Department which started yesterday. From what we know, Ngangah has already complained about her 'tortured' body only after one day training. Hehehe... Be patient, we know you can do it!

Anniversary celebration

08th April 2009

Last Friday night, mummy and daddy treated both sides of the family for a North Indian style buffet dinner in celebration of their 6th wedding anniversary, as well as a doa selamat for daddy's recent promotion in his office. The dinner was held at Rangmahal Restaurant in 'Batu Satu'.

In addition to the delicious menu, mummy brought her bread pudding as our dessert. Well, what do you know? It was mummy's first attempt at the recipe but it turned out to be a hit! We didn't even have the time to take a picture of it up close! Hehehe...

To all who came, thank you for making the night another memorable event.
